Deepening Our Paths to Intimacy - a retreat for men October 9-12 (Columbus Day weekend) As many of us know there's rarely a straight line from an ordinary moment to an intimate one. And many of us stumble when we try to have more intimacy in our lives. But there must be something! Patterns? trends? attitudes? behaviors? Join us in this three day retreat as we come together to playfully and thoughtfully explore how we can each get more of this famous intimacy thing - be it with our significant other, our friends or with ourselves - in our own lives. What to expect: During three days together in this mountain-top sanctuary we'll alternate work time, play time and alone time. We'll take time in discussions and exercises, time in silence with our journals alone in nature and time doing fun physical activities in the woods. We will create rituals and eat healthy organic food. We'll meditate in silence and laugh in the hot tub. Throughout all of this we will keep coming back to the question of intimacy - not sexual intimacy but rather heart intimacy. What enhances it and what hinders it? What is not-intimacy? And how we can have more intimacy in our daily lives? For whom: Men presently engaged in self-exploration work (therapy, meditation, 12 step) interested in deepening their sense of intimacy, wanting to find ways to feel closer to the people around them, to bring more of themselves into their relationships. When: Friday Oct 9, 3 PM until Monday Oct 11, 1 PM 2010 (Columbus Day Weekend) Accommodations: The retreat will take place at the stunning Wildwood Retreat Center, which hovers 25 minutes uphill above Guerneville, CA. This 220 acre site sits among redwoods with vistas for miles around and offers a pool, hot tub and delicious, mostly organic food. Housing is in double rooms with single beds and individual bathrooms. How much: $ 395 per person until Sept 20, $450 after. The is a tuition-free retreat. All of the proceeds go to support the Wildwood Conservation Foundation a non-profit whose role is to maintain the land and the retreat center. How to proceed: If you are interested in attending please send an email indicating three times when you are available for a 20 minute phone call. Hopefully we will be able to quickly find a time to discuss your expectations, questions and give you more information about the workshop. Facilitated by: Gregory Rowe, MA, and Rob Roy Woodman, PhD. Greg Rowe Bio Information: After 12 years traveling the world as a travel writer, in 1992 Greg Rowe created and ran a non-profit in France that took doctors, nurses and patients dealing with terminal illness out of hospitals and into retreat centers. He's been facilitating workshops, groups, and retreats ever since. With a Masters in both Clinical and Social Psychology, he also conducts individual and family therapy with a special focus on intimacy, sexuality and things that can get in the way for us. "I have the best job in the world! I get to be a loving witness to these hidden treasure chests of joy, pain, and yearning that people bring when we offer them a beautiful safe environment to come together. And Wildwood is one of those rare places perfectly suited for that kind of openness," says Greg. |
